The Defence Forces reported a possible drone threat during the night of March 31
There is currently no threat in Estonian airspace. People across Estonia can safely continue with their normal activities.
During the night of March 31, the Estonian Defence Forces issued a possible drone‑threat alert via EE‑ALARM in seven counties: Ida‑Virumaa, Lääne‑Virumaa, Jõgevamaa, Põlvamaa, Tartumaa, Valgamaa and Võrumaa. A few hours later, the area of concern was expanded to cover the entire mainland.
As a result of the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine, potentially dangerous aerial objects may enter Estonian airspace. The Defence Forces detected activity outside Estonian airspace that could pose a threat to Estonia.
If you receive an EE‑ALARM emergency alert, you must take the message seriously and follow the instructions given.

If you spot a suspicious drone, follow the same steps as if you had found a potential explosive device:
- Do not approach the drone.
- Immediately call 112.
- Move to a safe distance.
- Warn people nearby and do not let anyone approach the object.
Do not share its location on social media.
Even if there is no official warning, you should assess the air threat posed by any suspicious flying object and act with caution.
If you hear or see rockets, drones, or explosions, first ensure your own safety and, if necessary, quickly move to the nearest indoor space, lie down as low to the ground as possible, away from doors and windows.
Once you are in a safe place, you can get additional information about the situation at www.kriis.ee or by calling the national information hotline at 1247.
- If you hear a siren or receive a notification from EE-ALARM instructing you to take cover due to an air threat, you must take the warning seriously and immediately seek shelter in the nearest indoor space.
- The best place to take cover is the nearest windowless room - a basement or another room with sturdy walls.
