Mental health and psychosocial support

In crisis and in uncertain times it is normal to experience concern, negative thoughts, poor sleep, anxiety and other strong emotions.

Psychosocial support helps restore the sense of security, reduce stress and anxiety, and support individuals in coping after a traumatic event.

A crisis event may include war, a terrorist attack, a nuclear or hazardous waste accident, a natural disaster such as a flood, as well as a school shooting, a serious traffic or workplace accident, a suicide attempt, or the suicide of a loved one. Other incidents may involve various crimes, including assault, robbery, murder, rape, and abuse.

Such events affect not only individuals and their families but also communities and organisations. The Social Insurance Board coordinates psychosocial support in Estonia. You can find mental health advise from a website peaasi.ee.
